What is the Juvéderm Family of Fillers?

Dermal fillers are designed to replace volume, add contour, diminish lines, and reduce asymmetries. Juvéderm fillers are the top filler choice of Dr. Miguel Delgado and Ariel Kirk, RN because of their results. Juvéderm fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar complex found in our skin tissues to keep the skin hydrated, plump, and more youthful-looking.

What Can Juvéderm Treat?

The Full Line of Juvéderm Products

The Juvéderm family of fillers offers a wide variety of products, each made with its own unique formulation to address a specific area of concern.

Juvéderm XC

FDA-approved in 2006, Juvéderm XC was the very first of this innovative and popular family of fillers. Juvéderm XC was designed to improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds of the face (such as nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines). Results last 6-12 months.

Juvéderm Ultra

Although Juvéderm Ultra is excellent for mild to moderate lines and wrinkles and mild volume enhancement, its softness makes it a great option for subtle lip augmentation. Lips appear fuller and plumper with a natural look and feel natural, with results lasting 6-9 months.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus

It’s called “Ultra Plus” because it’s made of a thicker and more sturdy substance than Juvéderm Ultra—therefore it’s able to handle more severe wrinkles and folds, with longer-lasting results (up to one year). Juvéderm Ultra Plus also delivers more robust volume and lift for the cheeks and/or jaw areas, as well as the lips.

Juvéderm Vollure

Juvéderm Vollure helps to restore age-related, mid-facial volume loss that results in smile lines and folds and wrinkles. Its active ingredient, hyaluronic acid, helps the skin to become plumper, more hydrated, and more resilient. Vollure is made of a medium gel and lasts up to 18 months.

Juvéderm Voluma

Excellent for contouring cheeks, making a weak chin more prominent, adding volume to the mid-face, and lifting sagging skin, Juvéderm Voluma is made of the line’s thickest and strongest gel. Voluma’s Vycross™ technology means that this product has an advanced cross-linked gel that allows it to be molded immediately after it’s been injected into the tissues. Results last up to two years.

Juvéderm Volbella

While Voluma is made of the line’s thickest and strongest gel, Volbella is made with the line’s thinnest gel. Why is this good? Because it allows the product to be very spreadable, which means that it’s perfect for treating extremely delicate and subtle wrinkles, such as fine lines at the mouth or underneath the eyes. Volbella also offers subtle treatment for the lips, achieving definition for the lip border and attractive augmentation. Results last for up to 18 months.

Is Juvéderm Right for Me?

Even though sagging skin and wrinkles are more common in people who are over the age of 30, they can still affect younger people. Thankfully, Juvéderm can be used for individuals throughout their lives. For majority of the patients, the results of Juvéderm can last anywhere from 6-9 months, but in some cases it can last even up to one full year. Juvéderm is a great option for anyone who is concerned about facial signs of aging, but is not yet ready for a more invasive procedure (such as a facelift). The best candidates for Juvéderm are those who:

  • Are over 21 years of age
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have an active skin infection
  • Do not have any type of bleeding disorder
  • Do not have an allergy to the ingredients of Juvéderm
  • Understand how Juvéderm works and have realistic expectations

Your Juvéderm Treatment

For Juvéderm treatments, a thorough medical history, assessment, and consultation will take place before the procedure. The treatment plan will then be reviewed with the patient. Markings are commonly made on the patient’s face to highlight the areas where injections will be administered. During treatment, a fine needle and/or cannula will be used to safely inject the Juvéderm in the desired areas of the face. Juvéderm is a quick and easy procedure with almost no pain, and there is virtually no recovery period required. However, just like with any other type of injectable, there may be slight bruising and swelling at the injection site. Fortunately, these are the two most common side effects. Disclaimer: Results may vary depending on patient condition and specific needs.
